Have your ever reflected as a leader, manager, or HR professional and asked yourself “Am I part of the problem?” Managers and leaders need to understand that 1. Your personality annoys us, 2. Common sense isn’t common, and 3. You suck at communicating.
In this segment, host David Ciullo and national speaker and author Wendy Sellers, The HR Lady® discuss the things leaders should know to get stuff done! This is honest, authentic, and direct conversation that will help to make you a better professional and human in life and at work.
About The Guest:
Wendy Sellers is The HR Lady®. Her expertise stems from personal experience, as she entered the field of HR without a clear plan and faced numerous challenges along the way. This has made her authentic, transparent, results-oriented, and committed to providing practical solutions without hidden agendas. The HR Lady® is an HR Consultant offering management training, conference speaking, and HR advisory services and resources. With over 25 years of experience, Wendy has worked in many areas, such as HR operations, downsizing, change management, corporate culture, coaching, training, education, and leadership development.
In addition to her formal education (Master’s in Human Resources and Master’s in Health Care Administration), Wendy has been certified with many monikers, including the SPHR (HRCI) and SHRM-SCP certifications (she also taught the SHRM course), Certified Internal Investigation Administrator, a DiSC certified personality style trainer, health/life insurance licensed (to scare off any agent who might try to take advantage of your company), a Dale Carnegie course graduate focusing on leadership and empathy, and is also an active and past board member and volunteer for multiple non-profits.
Wendy’s straightforward style means she doesn’t sugar-coat things. She believes that people are a company’s greatest asset and should be treated as such. That means training and empowering managers, supervisors, and employees to succeed is not an option; it is mandatory. Wendy trains administrators on HR compliance and managers on the rest: the people part, from hiring to termination.
She has served businesses of all sizes, ranging from local startups to global enterprises. Wendy has worked in and across diverse industries, including healthcare, dental, professional services, technology, manufacturing, construction, engineering, non-profit, higher education (college & universities), federal contractors, public safety, and government agencies – to name a few.
