Minimum Wage and Salaries –

We discuss the impact of the blocking of the new Fair Labor Standards Act regulations that were due to go into effect on December 1, 2016.
They also talk about how with the passing of the new Maine Minimum Wage ballot initiative, Maine employers still will have an Exempt Salary rate increase as of January 1, 2017 which has nothing to do with the federal regulations. Jeanne, Julie and host David also discuss a new training initiative from the Maine DOL for employers that focuses on impairment training for supervisors.

The Maine Department of Labor is committed to serving Maine workers and businesses:

  • Helping employers recruit and train a talented workforce;
  • Providing workers with the skills they need to be competitive in the economy;
  • Assisting individuals when jobs are lost;
  • Ensuring safe and fair workplaces for people on the job; and
  • Researching and analyzing employment data to support job growth
