Guest Host:

Tawny Alvarez
Partner
Verrill Dana

Tawny is a partner in Verrill Dana’s labor and employment practice group.  She believes that a company’s culture defines its business and prides herself on assisting clients comply with the law, while simultaneously creating an amazing place to work.

Tawny centers her practice on the understanding that the employment landscape is ever-changing and that many organizations do not have the time or resources to keep abreast of all of these changes—from medical (and recreational) marijuana’s effect on drug testing, to the effect of social networking in the workplace and mobile devices’ effect on wage and hour issues. In this evolving landscape she recognizes that for companies to remain profitable and successful they must be proactive, as opposed to reactive, to these employment issues.

Guest:

Celine Frueh
Director of Human Resources
Allagash Brewing Co.

Creating a Culture that Fits your Brand –

Celine Frueh has 20 years of human resources experience, including more than six years in her current role as HR Director at Allagash Brewing Co., and is SHRM-SCP and SPHR certified. After beginning her HR career in the software industry, she served as an HR consultant both as part of a firm and through her own business. Her love of the creative and collaborative world of craft beer pairs well with the brewery’s unconventional and authentic approach to business and HR as a supporting mechanism to make the company strong.

Contributing to the HR practice beyond her job, Celine served for many years on the Society for Human Resource Management Maine Station Council’s Legislative Committee and since joining the Craft Beer Human Resources Group in 2012, led the Craft Brewers HR survey in 2015 and 2017, with plans to in 2019, as well.

She also sits on the Human Resources Committee for the Portland Museum of Art and serves as a board member for the Falmouth Youth Lacrosse. Celine earned her bachelor’s degree in English from St. Michael’s College and her HR Management Certificate from Bentley University.

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time in the great outdoors with her three active boys and husband, and takes in as much of Portland’s vibrant food and music scene that life allows.
