Boots2Roots –

Jen Fullmer is Executive Director of a relatively new Maine nonprofit called Boots2Roots.

Boots2Roots provides personalized and proactive support for active duty military members and their families who are transitioning to Maine.  Boots2Roots’ programs focus on employment, navigating transition resources, and peer mentoring, built on a foundation of networking connections based in trust.  Boots2Roots is the only nonprofit in Maine specifically focused on connecting with active duty military members before they begin their transition to Maine so they can hit the ground running when they get here.

Prior to her current role, Jen served 24 years in the United States Air Force and retired as a Colonel in the fall of 2015.  She served in a variety of leadership positions to include flying squadron command and Chief of Staff of the Joint Interagency Task Force South, a multi-national task force tasked with facilitating the interdiction of illicit trafficking and other narco-terrorist threats. From 2013 to 2014 she served as Vice Commander of the 379th Air Expeditionary Wing at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, where she was second in command of United States Central Command’s largest air wing, responsible for combat operations and installation support for 8000 U.S. and coalition warfighters.  Jen is a command pilot with more than 2,500 flight hours in the B-1 Bomber, including 90 combat missions over Afghanistan and Iraq during Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM from October 2001 to May 2014.

Jen has a Master of Science in Human Services with a concentration in Nonprofit Management from Purdue University Global, a Master of Arts in Strategic Studies from the USAF Air War College, Air University, a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the College of Naval Command and Staff, Naval War College, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Northern Colorado.
