Mark Eves
Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate

Mark Eves got his start going door to door in the overlooked corners of Maine, helping families in trouble.  It wasn’t easy, but this son of a public-school teacher and a retired military chaplain learned early: You don’t give up on people when they’re struggling.  You stick with them, and keep coming back, day after day, until you figure out what’s wrong.  Because that’s how you help make it right.

That’s what Mark did as a trained family therapist (both a clinician and administrator) for community health organizations across the state. Helping families is the calling of Mark’s life, and it’s why he ran for the state legislature.

Mark served eight years in the Maine House of Representatives, including two terms as Speaker of the House.  And while Mark’s bouts with Governor Paul LePage have been well publicized, he spent most of his time working to bring together a state that can feel awfully divided. It was under Mark’s leadership that the legislature passed a bipartisan middle-class tax cut, boosted property tax relief for all Maine families, and strengthened investments in Maine’s children, seniors and workers.

Now he’s running for governor to make a better Maine, one family at a time.

Mark lives in North Berwick with his wife Laura, their three young children, four goats, two pigs and a coop full of chickens.
