Phil Harriman
Partner,
Chartered Financial Consultant
Lebel & Harriman

Succession Planning –

In March of 1983, Mike and Phil formally organized Lebel & Harriman, LLP as a Maine-based partnership. They also made a profession leading decision to transition away from representing manufacturers of financial products, creating an independent investment and insurance firm representing the client.

Meanwhile, the financial industry began to see the merging of banks, insurance companies and stock brokerage firms. Recognizing the financial planning profession was rapidly becoming more complicated and because Lebel & Harriman’s growing clientele was becoming more sophisticated, Mike and Phil prepared for the future by organizing areas of specialty within the firm.

By the 1990s, many institutions began to realize they were not equipped to develop from scratch the expertise needed to serve clients with multiple needs and therefore began acquiring. Lebel & Harriman resisted attempts to be acquired by institutional suitors. Rather, Mike and Phil chose to develop into a boutique firm by attracting talented individuals from these ever-changing institutions who wanted to focus on meeting and exceeding individual client needs one-on-one. Laurie Reed and Rebecca Burchill joined the firm to fulfill their professional desires and Lebel & Harriman’s vision.

In 1999, Lebel & Harriman, LLP began a comprehensive search to find a top-notch broker dealer. This exhaustive due diligence process concluded in 2001 with Lebel & Harriman’s decision to become a member firm of ValMark Securities, Inc. Larry J. Rybka, Esq., CFP® is the second generation family member to operate ValMark Securities, Inc, which was founded by his father in the early 1960s.

In 2002, Michelle Romano joined Lebel & Harriman to focus exclusively on the individual investment needs of the firm’s clients, rounding out our vision of a multi-dimensional financial planning firm.

Today, Lebel & Harriman, LLP has three integrated disciplines led by: Laurie M. Reed, Partner and Managing Director of Retirement Plans, Rebecca A. Burchill, Managing Director of Insurance and Annuities, and Michelle M. Romano, Managing Director of Investments.

This unique combination of professional talent positions Lebel & Harriman, LLP as the premier financial planning firm throughout New England and beyond.

This depth of expertise and experience enables Mike to serve clients in all phases of retirement accumulation and distribution. He is nationally recognized as leading the Baby Boomer Generation into a financially dignified retirement. Phil is nationally recognized in the field of business succession planning, wealth management and estate planning. Both partners have served the financial planning profession on a national scale and are sought around America for their ability to meet the needs of clients seeking financial and legacy planning.
